FUTURE OF NEWS MISSION

In 2024, Stagwell launched the Future of News Initiative, created to spark an industry-wide conversation about the need – and the opportunity – to invest in quality news journalism.

To begin the conversation, Stagwell agency HarrisX conducted a 50,000-person study which showed advertising against news content was not only brand safe, but also a strong vehicle for driving business results. The current construct of brand safety is both unfounded and materially impacting the viability of news organizations across the spectrum and around the world.

Armed with this data and a mission to revitalize a healthy news-advertising ecosystem, Stagwell convened a council of diverse news publications to develop a platform that encourages investment in the future of news. Alongside our partners, we published the following mission statement of the Future of News across half a dozen publications, with a goal of raising awareness and encouraging behavior change from our partners in the advertising world.
